Point of the Mountain Storage sits at 15112 South Pony Express Road in Bluffdale, right where Interstate 15 and Veterans Memorial Highway pinch through the gap that splits the Salt Lake Valley from Utah County. The 54,872-square-foot property serves that whole seam of traffic with drive-up units, climate-controlled space, open parking, and dedicated storage for boats, trailers, and RVs.

The point is one of the busiest commuter and recreation corridors in the state, feeding the lakes, the mountains, and the fast-growing towns on both sides of the divide. Storage here has to serve daily household demand and the weekend toys at the same time, which is why the site carries everything from compact units to parking that takes a vehicle up to 45 feet.

Every storage building on the site sits at ground level, and the whole plan is organized around vehicle movement. Drive-up units run from small household spaces to larger bays, paved parking handles the big rigs, and wide drive aisles give trucks and RVs room to swing through. Johnson Construction built the storage buildings and the covered vehicle storage: pre-engineered metal building construction, standing-seam roofing, metal wall panels, roll-up doors, and the vehicle canopies that shelter the larger rigs.

Pre-engineered metal building construction is the workhorse of drive-up and vehicle storage, and getting it right is less simple than it looks. The foundations and anchor bolts have to match the steel, the standing-seam roof has to shed weather over long spans, and the canopies have to clear a raised RV while standing up to Wasatch Front wind.
